Carpal tunnel surgery

If you suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome, one of the main nerves to the hand becomes compressed within the wrist. This can be treated by carpal tunnel release surgery.

This surgical procedure divides the restricting tissue forming the roof of the tunnel area, therefore relaxing the pressure around the median nerve.

Surgery details

  • A day case procedure
  • Usually undertaken with local anaesthetic
  • Bandaging reduced to a lighter dressing after one week
  • Stitches removed two weeks after surgery
